Fifth Annual Fishing Derby
June 4,2005
Our fifth annual fishing derby proved once again to be a success, despite the cold, rainy day. The new location was great and the children could not keep fish off of their lines. One boy, at last check had caught 16 fish! Everyone who tried caught fish.In attendance were 30 children and their families,
Division of Wildlife and their volunteers, who provided fishing poles
for each child along with informational fishing clinics to teach
the children about fish, knot tying and fishing. There was a table
of animal tracks, furs and a laser shooting range set up by the Division
of Wildlife so the children could learn more about wild animals and shooting. Members
from the West Metro Trout Unlimited brought their chuck wagon and took
charge of the cooking for us once again, they also had volunteers help
the children with fishing. Our clown this year was Brent Johnson who delighted the children with his talent of making balloon art. .
We had a tent full of prizes for each child to take home along with goodies
bags filled to the brim. We wish to thank all the volunteers who helped make this day possible. Because of the weather and the fun all the children had we made the decision to hold a second fishing derby this year, it will be held on August 6, 2005.
