Fishing Derby
June 2, 2007

This year we had over 80 children attend with their families. The Colorado Division of Wildlife set up fishing clinics to teach the children about fishing, and provided rods and reels to each child to use and take home. They also brought their Dart Trailer to let the children shoot a rifle at the simulated targets.
Denver West Trout Unlimited participated and helped with the cooking and catching of fish.
West Metro Fire Department aws able to attend and provide plenty of help and let the children see their trucks and equipment.
The Sportsmen's Warehouse (Aurora and Thornton) provided bait and volunteers to help.
Our expert clown was Brad Johnson, who donated his time and made balloon art for the children.
The Colorado Bowhunters Association set up and manned an archery range.
New to the derby this year was Dreyers Ice Cream, who came with their dipping station, full of ice cream treats for everyone to enjoy while at the fishing derby...and also new, our face painter, Marcy Pergola.
Charlie O's Photography, Charlie Ogard donated his talents as our professional photographer this year!
Fish of all sizes and types were caught. Everyone who wanted to catch a fish...did!
We had some deer run through and put on a quick show for the participants.
Thanks to all of the great volunteers and people who helped make this another successful fishing derby for the children and their families!!!
